Why reward a team for doing their job? They get paid, don’t they! They should be grateful for having a job!
I have heard these comments and more said many times by businesses who do not focus on driving a strong people culture. These companies also have a higher turnover of the team with higher costs for recruitment and a lower engagement score. They tend to be businesses where the senior team focus on profit, numbers and deliverables without considering the team who with recognition would work more efficiently, more productively and be happier in their roles giving their absolute best.
